Disneyland Paris - A Family Adventure Worth Seeing for Young and Old

Disneyland Park & Walt Disney Studios Park

Allow plenty of time for the end of the line and, unfortunately, also for queuing. Our tip: Use the app! It gives a good overview and shows the current waiting times in real time. #vanlifetour22 - Day 5/56

Disneyland Paris - Walt Disney Castle

After our Saturday trip to Paris, we needed a day off. We had organized ticktes for Monday and Tuesday because we thought it might be emptier than on a weekend. But that idea was probably held by many. What can I tell you - there are no weekdays at Disneyland! It's always crowded here, every day! For us corona-ravaged souls, that was a bit of a shock at first. But as soon as we let ourselves in, we were swimming along in the stream of Disneyland.

Disneyland Paris App

Armed with a large map and the Disneyland-App, we set off. I can only recommend the app to everyone, it's really great, especially if you don't know your way around the area like we did. We had tried to mark various rides and attractions in advance to have a schedule for the day. But that only worked to a limited extent in the first half of the day, because everything was just so overwhelming. And we didn't want to constantly run through the parks with our noses in the app. So here, too, first the motto - always follow your nose.

The first day we spent exclusively in Disneyland Park. This is also the larger of the two and here you can make some miles on foot. Small tip: Be sure to take enough water and food. There is something to buy at every corner, but the French also pay well for it.

We love Disney movies and seeing the Disney castle warmed all of our hearts.

I often went to amusement parks as a child. So I know that queuing at rides is often part of the experience. But what we have experienced here really surpasses everything. Unfortunately, it was not uncommon to wait 40 minutes, and at some attractions you could stand for over an hour. Unfortunately, we did not ride the new Crush's Coaster® in the Forest Disney Studio Park because of more than 1 ½ h waiting time and we also did not make it to the performance of the Ice Queen. There is indeed the possibility to book a so-called Premier Accsess and thus avoid the waiting time. But we found that with prices between 5 and 15 EUR per person and ride outrageously expensive. We had not informed ourselves about this in advance and the long waits were really annoying. But the waiting times themselves could always be tracked well on the app. And so we tried to coordinate ourselves as best we could on the basis of that.

I'll spare you the details of each attraction - but I'd like to share our personal highlights with you:

In the Disneyland Park

  • Indianer Jones in the Frontierland

  • The haunted house Phantom Manor

  • Pirates of the Caribbean in the adventureland

  • Mickey’s PhilharMagic Show in the Discoveryland

  • Alice´s Labyrinth in the Fantasyland

  • Star Tours: The Adventures Continue in the Discoveryland

In the Walt Disney Studio Park

  • The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror (really extreme! Possibly not go in with too small kids, although the minimum height is only 102 cm).

  • The 4D Spectacle Ratatouille

  • Cars Quatre Roues Rallye

Our conclusion

Phantom Manor - Das Geisterhaus - im Disneyland Park
The Haunted House - Phantom Manor at Disneyland Park

The two parks are really worth seeing! You can see how much thought and passion the builders have put into each individual station. The attention to detail is remarkable. For the price of admission, you can expect a lot, but you won't be disappointed.

Especially the parade that marches through Disneyland Park twice a day is spectacular. The entire architecture, the houses and stores, the worlds, the Disney Castle, the rides and all the little decorative touches make the parks a seemingly endless adventure. There is something to discover at every turn. It's not just the children's eyes that light up at the end of the day.

Our recommendation

Visit both parks and take at least two days. Everything else is hardly manageable, especially if you are traveling with children. And if we were to go there again, we would also spend a night on the grounds in one of the hotels. Unfortunately, we missed the evening shows and the fireworks, because we wouldn't have been able to get the bus back to the campsite otherwise.
