Useful accessories in the campervan

Small, practical helpers for everyday life when traveling with a motorhome

There are many useful items and useful accessories for traveling in a motorhome. Over the years, we have tried out many things and present our current highlights here. #equipment (Update: 07/2024)

On amazon I have put together a list of all the accessories for traveling with a campervan or motorhome that I really recommend:

Excderpt from my recommandations

Vanlife Logbook - Travel diary

We searched for a long time and then finally found it shortly before our first major trip. It really proved its worth during the two months away, because it contains everything you need as a quick reminder afterwards. It is also handy, of high quality, beautifully designed, super structured and has some useful additional information (interesting apps, packing lists, etc.).

4-piece gas cylinder adapter set for Europe

As a special valve is required for gas cylinders in Spain, for example, and a separate gas connection adapter is required for the connection between the gas hose and this valve, it is always advisable to have such a set with you. You can find out more about gas cylinders in Spain in my blog article.

Cell phone holders, self-adhesive

I really don't like drilling into the van, so I try to install everything as an adhesive version if possible. These simple holding boxes have been sticking firmly for over 3 years now and are super practical. We use them especially for our cell phones, as the opening at the bottom is perfect for the charging cable.

Parmesan grater from Fackelmann

We love Parmesan! No matter where we go, we always have to take a piece of Parmesan with us. Luckily, we came across this grater from Fackelmann. It also has a container for collecting the cheese and is also a food storage box. Incredibly practical!

Küchenrollenhalter für Citroen Jumper Pössl 2Win Plus

Kitchen roll holder

I wanted a simple but beautiful kitchen roll holder that fits well under the wall cupboard and can be mounted without drilling. Et voilá, I ended up with this one. It sticks firmly, is stable and you can get to the roll quickly and easily from anywhere.

Cable bag

Nothing is more annoying when traveling than not being able to find the charging cable for your cell phone, Bluetooth box or tablet or having thousands of cables flying around in the interior. After several trips in this state, we decided to buy a cable bag that not only has space for small cables but can also store larger items and even fits a tablet. A dream! Really highly recommended!

Pocket nets & Co.

Suction and adhesive pocket nets in the interior, e.g. on our bathroom door below the mirror, have also proved very useful. They store things like sun milk, bug spray, after sun lotion etc. as well as disposable washcloths and much more. Simply things that you always need to get to quickly and easily. These nets hold up really well and don't wear out and above all - no drilling required!

Panniers & laundry bags

They are particularly well known in the backpacker scene and wherever you need a good system for clothes with a small pack size.

In our previous van, a T4 California Bus, they fitted perfectly under the bench. In our current Pössl 2Win Plus, they are perfect for the rear wall cupboards above the bed. We store socks and laundry in laundry nets, as you can squeeze them in anywhere. For dirty laundry, we bought two laundry bags with mesh inserts from the camping accessories, which can be folded into a small 10 cm bag when not in use - extremely space-saving!

Foldable travel box, e.g. for children's toys

Anyone who travels with children knows that the little ones want to take everything with them on vacation or when traveling. This is rather difficult with such limited space. That's why we bought this folding box and added the special feature “Only what fits in here can come with you”. And it works really well. The box is big enough for books, small toys, headphones and all sorts of bits and bobs and fits perfectly on the back seat (even strapped in when driving) or under the table if necessary.

Folding hand saw for wood, for example

Perfect for cutting fresh wood. The handle is non-slip and has a finger guard and a clip for attaching to a belt.

HeosWater water tank lid

Extremely helpful when filling the water tank using water hoses. We also always have a watering can with us, but if it has to be quick, this is our gadget to go :)

Thule storm bracing for awnings

I really don't want to be without it! Everyone knows that the wind comes faster than you think, especially by the sea, and then the awning wobbles extremely despite being anchored to the ground. This storm bracing makes it stable!

Mini fan with table clip

The automatic air conditioning in our van only supplies the driver's cabin in the first instance and cool air only slowly reaches the rear compartment. Especially with children in the car, this little aid makes the journey a lot more pleasant. And thanks to the USB connection, it can also be charged directly in the car.

Hand vacuum cleaners

There really are an infinite number of variations here. We have currently opted for this one from Severin and have been very satisfied so far. It fits neatly in an extra bag in the storage compartment or outside the driver's cab.

Keder strip hooks for the awning

These little things are really worth their weight in gold. They are super easy to attach to the piping strip of the awning and are suitable for anything that needs to be hung up.

My recommendations at a glance on amazon
